Mediation

I am available to mediate even the most intractable disputes. Sessions can be held in my centrally located financial-district office in San Francisco, or at any location in California that is mutually agreeable to the litigants. The advantages of mediating with me are:

• Extensive Legal Experience at Reasonable Rates: You get the legal experience you want in a mediator at a cost that is hundreds of dollars less per hour than when you mediate through a service. I have extensive experience litigating construction, insolvency, intellectual property, complex commercial, class action, and landlord-tenant disputes, and am able to quickly understand the key legal issues relevant to even the most complicated matters.
  
  As a solo practitioner, I have low overhead and can be flexible with scheduling. I do not charge administrative fees or impose minimum hour requirements. These advantages enable each engagement to be tailored to the particular needs of the parties, and translate into more cost effective mediation services for you and your clients. 
  
  
• Business Sense and a Strong Practical Streak: I worked four years with an international construction company after earning a Master of Science degree in Construction Management. You can have confidence that your mediator is sensitive to business realities and the competitive pressures faced by parties involved in commercial litigation.
  
  
• Technological Literacy: I have an engineering degree and am a registered patent attorney. You spend less time educating the mediator about any technology relevant to your dispute and can have confidence that your mediator has the ability to grasp its significance.
  
  
• Formal Mediation Training: Emotions can run strong during dispute resolution sessions. Attempting to ignore this uncomfortable fact and the role emotions play in the process can derail a settlement negotiation. I am trained in how to work constructively with conflict to keep the settlement process on-track.

Discovery Dispute Resolution

I am available for appointment as a special master in cases with complicated discovery issues.

I have expertise in the challenges of gathering, managing, and producing large amounts of electronically stored information during discovery, and in California’s newly enacted Electronic Discovery Act. I am a contributor and practice consultant to the recently published Matthew Bender Practice Guide, CALIFORNIA E-DISCOVERY AND EVIDENCE, and am a presenter at continuing legal eduction seminars on Electronic Discovery.
